This collection stimulated a number of inquiries for me. "Freedom and the Development of the Free Man"  was key in its consideration of central themes and which easily link back to his contributions with the concept of education and the idea of the "educated person".  But "The Development of Reason", "Reason and Passion", "The Education of the Emotions" were also important. One of my early (and few) published papers was Oliver, R. Graham. “Through the Doors of Reason: Dissolving Four Paradoxes of Education.” Educational Theory 35, no. Number 1 (1985): 15–32., and its stimulus was the paper here "Reason and Habit: the Paradox of Moral Education"
